Does your pet have bad breath? Have you noticed your pet's teeth aren't as white as they once were?
The doctors at Van Wert Veterinary Clinic take your pet's dental health very seriously. Proper dental care is a very important part of your pet's health. The doctors evaluate your pet's teeth at their yearly wellness exam and may recommend a dental cleaning. As a lot of dental disease can hide below the tooth surface, it's difficult to fully assess dental disease until the time of a cleaning.
A proper dental cleaning is done under anesthesia. All visible surfaces of the teeth as well as slightly below the gum line are carefully scaled and polished by a registered veterinary technician. After the cleaning, the doctor will inspect the teeth for any potential problems. Often any problems can be addressed right then. Sometimes, when dental disease is severe, a follow-up procedure may be needed. Our goal is to keep your pet happy and healthy!
